Companion Model

Xavier College is committed to creating a centre of learning excellence with a myriad of opportunities for our students. The ‘Companion Model’ of curriculum we employ offers our students the opportunity to engage with the curriculum by challenging them to become critical thinkers.

This approach to learning and teaching involves utilising strategies such as ‘Problem Based Learning’, ensuring that learning is relevant and connected to real world scenarios for our students.

This dynamic new learning environment engages students with the curriculum through the use of two integrated subject areas: Humanities and Scientia. Scientia draws from the subjects of Mathematics and Science, while Humanities brings together the subject areas of English, Religious Education and HSIE.

Our curriculum model integrates technology across all key learning areas. Technology is used extensively in the Learning Common to allow students to use their skills to access information in a manner with which they are familiar and comfortable. Students are exposed to a variety of learning and presentation styles in order for them to achieve to their highest potential.

Xavier College and the Learning Common provide students with a centre of learning excellence and innovation preparing them with skills for the future.
