Year 8 Literacy Reading and Writing Skills
Literacy classes provide students the opportunity to practise a range of reading and writing skills. This year in Literacy, students completed reading comprehension activities and participated in a library visit with Ms. Johnson to explore genres in narrative texts.
Reading Comprehension:
During the term, students practised their Reading and Comprehension skills by completing a test under exam conditions. Students used their learning devices to access the reading material and comprehension questions and wrote the answers in their Literacy books. Students also self-mark their work, allowing students to reflect on their reading and comprehension skills.
Narrative Texts:
This term in Literacy, Year 8 is learning about narrative texts. They have had the opportunity to spend a lesson with Ms Johnson in the Xavier Library learning about all the different types of genres of books such as horror, sci-fi, romance, comedy and many more. Students had the opportunity to explore the different types of genres and to find a book that they feel will best suit them to read throughout Literacy class.
