House System

The purpose of the Xavier College House System is to reward participation in the life of the College and the wider community.

It is based on the belief that all areas of College life are important and of value. Following on from this vision, is the belief that all students have opportunities to ‘shine’ in a myriad of respective Ignatian and Jesuit areas. Every student has the ability and/or talent to add value to our community.

Campion

Campion Prayer

Where ever I may travel, may I always profess my faith in you God, to whom I owe all.

We pray that the example of Saint Edmund Campion may encourage us to stand up for what is right, and to hold what is true.

Be true to your convictions, stand up for what you believe in.

Love even those who may persecute you, and live by our school’s motto, 'For the Greater Good'.

Amen.

Faber

Faber Prayer

Almighty God,

Help us to seek grace in the smallest things, so that we may also find grace to accomplish, to believe in, and to hope for the greatest things.

May we be your humble servants, in prayer and in the service of each other.

Grant that we may find you and love you in everything and in every person.

Help us to take care, never to close our hearts to anyone.

Amen.

Loyola

Loyola Prayer

Dear God,

Give us the strength to walk in the footsteps of St Ignatius Loyola. May we live our lives rich in respect, loyalty, love and compassion.

May we be the change that we want to see in the world. Let us use his journeys as inspiration and guidance in our lives so that we may be brought to the glory of God.

Through Christ our Lord,

Amen

Mackillop

MacKillop Prayer

Dear Lord,

You inspired Saint Mary of the Cross MacKillop to live her life faithful to the Gospel of Jesus Christ and constant in bringing hope and encouragement to those who were disheartened, lonely or needy and through the intercession of Saint Mary MacKillop.

We ask that our faith and hope be fired afresh by the Holy Spirit with confidence in your generous providence so that we too, like Saint Mary MacKillop, may live with courage, trust and openness.

We ask this through Jesus Christ.

Amen

McCormack

McCormack Prayer

Dear Lord,

You have given us a world of grace and a place for us to feel safe and we thank you.

Show us where and when we are indifferent to injustice and to see those who are powerless and invisible. Teach us to be wise, to give comfort and hope and to be fairer in the choices we make.

Guide us to be like our patron, Sister Irene McCormack, to be more courageous, to know what is right and stand against what is wrong.

Empower us with your spirit, so that we have the courage and strength to secure an equality for all.

We ask this through Jesus Christ, our Lord.

Amen.

Tenison Prayer

We thank you, creator God, for the godly heritage You offer us.

We ask this through Jesus Christ.
