Students and staff at Xavier College Llandilo have enjoyed being part of the Monopoly mania gripping Penrith after the local edition of the famous board game went on sale.

Xavier College is the only school to land a spot on the board of the Penrith edition of the game and the school community has been quick to pass go with strong sales in the first week since its release. Funds raised from selling the game go towards school resources and the school community.

Mr Monopoly paid the school a special visit recently as students enjoyed Monopoly-themed fancy dress and playing with a giant gameboard and dice. There was also a free sausage sizzle paid for by students with Monopoly money.

Xavier College landed one of the most valuable spots on the board, part of the green group and in the position that is held by Euston Road in the original London version of the game. However, players hoping to secure the Xavier College ‘property’ in the game have to dice with the prospect of landing on the ‘Go To Jail’ spot immediately before it.

The Penrith edition features locally themed squares and images and customised ‘Community Chest’ and ‘Chance’ playing cards, making the game a truly Penrith experience.
